[Scene 1] : I want to be doing something I love ...

My last year as a registered student was in 2004. Five years on and I am fully integrated in the work force. God willing I will see another 50 (at least), which led me to seriously consider what I am supposed to be doing.

While still at school, the track: Baz Luhrmann - Everybody's Free (To Wear Sunscreen) was played constantly on MTV and VH1. Based on an essay by Mary Schmich called "Advice, like youth, probably just wasted on the young," many of the words still resonate in my head today. For the purpose of this blog post, I will quote a few lines:

Don’t feel guilty if you don’t know what you want to do with your life…the most interesting people I know didn’t know at 22 what they wanted to do with their lives, some of the most interesting 40 year olds I know still don’t.

Well, I was 16 back then; and I thought that by 22 I would be well on my way to doing what I wanted to. I'm 10 000% grateful for my current employers and the opportunities afforded me, but I seriously can't see myself being a Spec Writer for the next 30 years onwards. I know its important to excel in any area that you are placed as Luke 16:10 decrees: "Unless you are faithful in small matters, you won’t be faithful in large ones." but one can't settle for mediocrity and live with a list of "could-have-beens".

Life is all about maximizing - and I'm in the process of devising a plan concerning my career objectives. I see endless examples of people making money in areas of their expertise and enjoyment. Something dealing with Sport is my first option - so I'm looking at ways to be employed in that field because it is something that I love.

Thanks Bon :)

I'm working on Scene 2 right now, which I hope helps me and your friend.

It's interesting that you mentioned the quarter life crisis - i told my friend about it a couple weeks ago and she refused to believe me that a "1/4 life crisis" exists.

Hope things are great with you

J.
